More than 21,600 Lower Mainland residents will receive blankets and warm clothing this winter from donations collected during the 29th annual REALTORS Care® Blanket Drive.

As part of this year’s campaign, Lower Mainland Realtors also donated more than $9,500 to local housing-related charities.

Between November 14 and 21, over 100 real estate offices in the Lower Mainland served as drop-off locations for donations. Realtor volunteers then collected, sorted, and delivered the donations to local charities. Online financial donations were also collected for partner charities throughout the campaign.

The REALTORS Care® Blanket Drive is a partnership between the Realtors of the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver, the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board, and the Chilliwack and District Real Estate Board.

“Many of our partner charities were stretched thin this year and desperately needed blankets and warm clothing,” said Jennifer Quart, Chair, Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver. “Now, thanks to the efforts of our Blanket Drive donors and volunteers, these charities can better help some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.”

“Once again, the success of the REALTORS Care® Blanket Drive reflects the generosity of the communities of the Fraser Valley, members and volunteers,” said Narinder Bains, Chair of the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board. “Their collective efforts have resulted in the gathering, sorting and distribution of blankets and warm clothing, which will help to keep thousands of people in the Fraser Valley warm this winter.”

The program is the largest and longest running blanket drive in British Columbia. Since it began in 1994, it has helped more than 480,000 people in our communities keep warm and dry during the winter months. Go to www.blanketdrive.ca for more information.
