The government’s acceptance of the 28 recommendations made by the Real Estate Council of BC’s Independent Advisory Group is a positive development for the real estate profession. Many of the recommendations address issues that the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver (REBGV) has long advocated for, with the support of our members. We believe the proposed changes are progressive and we support their speedy implementation.

“The more than 12,800 REALTORS® in Greater Vancouver were unfairly tarred with a negative brush this week, because of the actions of a few who allegedly failed to act in the best interests of their clients,” said Dan Morrison, REBGV president. “They don't represent the profession as a whole. The vast majority of Realtors are hard-working, knowledgeable professionals who act with integrity.”

We applaud the recommendations of the Independent Advisory Group and the government’s commitment to implement those changes. Many of the IAG recommendations address issues we’ve championed for years.  We take offense, however, to the distorted image presented of our membership this week.
