Council passes Vancouver Plan

On July 22, 2022, Vancouver Council passed the Vancouver Plan, that guides growth, density and change in the city for the next 30 years.
The goal of the plan is to build better communities for the estimated 260,000 new residents coming and space for 210,000 new jobs.
The plan transforms Vancouver communities into walkable, family-friendly neighbourhoods better connected to jobs, schools, parks and community centres, groceries, restaurants, healthcare and shopping.
New types of affordable, missing middle, market, and rental housing include duplexes, triplexes, fourplexes and small apartment buildings in single, detached residential zones. Mid-rise condominium towers will be permitted in commercial strip areas.
The draft plan came after widespread engagement, more than 300 meetings with community groups, workshops, panel events, surveys, pop-up events, and more beginning in 2019.
