Sunshine CoastTucked into the southwest corner of mainland British Columbia, the Sunshine Coast is a 180 km stretch of heaven where the rainforest drops from the shoreline into the Strait of Georgia, and extends northward beneath the Coast Mountains from Howe Sound to Desolation Sound. The Sunshine Coast attracts recreation seekers for exeptional scuba diving, canoeing and kayaking; sport fishing for salmon, rainbow and kokanee trout; bird watching; and hiking. Internationally known artists showcase their works in studios throughout the region, and several arts and crafts festivals are held throughout the summer months. |
Gulf IslandsPositioned between Vancouver Island and the mainland, visitors to BC's Gulf Islands are awed by its natural beauty. There are quiet roads where you will see more wildlife than cars, vast stretches of uninterrupted shoreline with quaint lighthouses, beaches and vast ocean parks. Small farms supporting organic gardening and a large natural seed repository reflect the history of the islands agricultural past, including vineyards that have international recognition. The Gulf Islands have attracted a varied and talented group of artisans, hosting local studios of potters, painters, weavers and spinners, wood carvers and musicians. | |
