In learning about the various activities and opportunities that people in the real estate community are up to during the Games, we quickly discovered that being an Olympic volunteer often involves more than merely showing up.

Deborah Spicer, Angell Hasman and Associates Realty and REBGV Director, will put into play her extensive journalistic skills by volunteering as a press assistant for the media centre at Cypress Mountain. Deborah will connect journalists with interview subjects and provide any information they need, such as event results. Although Deborah has 15 years of media experience to rely on, it wasn’t until she visited the Cypress site that she realised she also needed to be in prime physical shape for the many kilometres of walking, running and stair climbing required each day. Deborah implemented her own personal boot camp to get in shape – three hours of cross-training six days a week. She’s now in fine form to herd the athletes to the media centre. |
